Building "the house of love" ends 12 years of sub-standard living

For Jill Thompson and her two daughters, Crystall and Rawinia, Habitat for Humanity's ‘Guys and Gals' build at the end of last year will mean the end to years of living in a damp house with a leaky roof and a rotten floor.

“I've rented the house that I'm in now for 12 years, and it's just not good for my girls. The roof's caving in and the timber's so rotten I fell through the floorboards in the bathroom. There's a lot of mildew and the place is so damp. My big girl, Crystall, has had major heart surgery five times and in winter, this place is so cold she can't get warm.”
