Severe flooding and torrential rain in Sri Lanka has destroyed more than 3000 homes, and displaced more than 50,000 families. Particularly for those without access to safe shelter and proper sanitation, recovery after a disaster is incredibly difficult.

Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka is responding in Kalutara Province, providing transitional shelters and water and sanitation kits to families displaced by the flooding. These critical supplies allow families to start rebuilding their lives after a disaster.

Give a family shelter by donating today.

Nepal Disaster Response Fund

Flooding across Nepal in August 2017 have left 75,000 families affected, with over 7,000 now without a place to live. This follows from disasters in recent times, with a 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck Nepal on Saturday, 25 April 2015.

Habitat for Humanity New Zealand is a part of the international Habitat for Humanity response to the earthquakes, and more recent floods, partnering with the Nepalese people as we work to rebuild hope and homes in their communities.

We’re grateful to our supporters and partners who give generously to the Habitat disaster response fund. The more funds we raise, the more families we can help.

Help Syrian families

Help Syrian families

The Syrian Refugee crisis has resulted in a large influx of people into neighbouring countries. Habitat for Humanity New Zealand’s work in the region is in Lebanon, and in partnership with Habitat for Humanity Lebanon.

The project ensures that families not living in refugee camps are living in hospitable and safe structures, through work like the construction of room partitions, and through the supply of bedding and other basic necessities, and sometimes through the rehoming of families.

Habitat's Samoa Build

Habitat's Samoa Build

Our mission has always been to bring people together to build homes, communities and hope. Habitat for Humanity has been working alongside families in Samoa for many years now, including after the 2009 tsunami, and Cyclone Evan in 2012.

In Samoa, Habitat for Humanity housing developments have provided a place to raise a family, shelter in the place of poverty, and protection from natural disasters.

Right now, we are in the final year of a three-year project in partnership with the governments of New Zealand and Samoa. With help from kiwi donors, 264 families will have a decent place to live.
