A category 5 cyclone severely battered Fiji’s two main islands, Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, on the night of Saturday 21st February 2016. Habitat for Humanity New Zealand is responding in partnership with the New Zealand government’s NZAID fund.
Habitat for Humanity has been in Fiji for 25 years, and our continued commitment to Fiji has only been amplified by this disaster. Our country director, Masi, and his team are continuing to assess the housing need there, as well as distributing shelter and home repair kits.
A 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck Nepal on Saturday, 25 April 2015. More than 2,400 people died as a result of the quake and an avalanche was triggered on Mount Everest. The Nepalese government declared a state of emergency in affected areas and appealed for international assistance.
Habitat for Humanity New Zealand is a part of the international Habitat for Humanity response to the earthquakes, partnering with the Nepalese people as we work to rebuild hope and homes in their communities.
We’re grateful to our supporters and partners who give generously to the Habitat disaster response fund. The more funds we raise, the more families we can help.
Habitat for Humanity, St. Cuthbert’s College and Rotary Newmarket have partnered to build a home for a deserving family in housing need. This unique event, in the centre of Newmarket, provides an opportunity for local businesses and the general public to join together to build a healthy and affordable home, and highlight the innovative ways that a community can come together and support those in need.
Over a three week period from 3rd April 2017, part of Broadway will be transformed into a community build site, and together we will build a home. Your donation will directly support the completion of this build. What is more each dollar you donate will also support future Habitat builds, through Habitat’s unique Fund for Humanity.
