Hi Friends, In October I’ll will be embarking on a trip to Nepal with Habitat for Humanity. Why..? Today Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world. Nearly one quarter of it’s people survive on less than US$1 per day. Life can be hard especially for the many who rely on agriculture for a living. Severe floods, landslides and earthquakes are common and threaten their homes, fields and livestock. Poverty and lack of jobs have led to a steady migration to the capital, Kathmandu. Quality housing will will begin to change this... About the build... The Everest Build 2010 will focus on building at least 30 houses in one week in a community near the city of Pokhara. The Habitat houses will each be 30 square metres in size. Each will have a small bedroom, a living room, a kitchen and a toilet outside the house. The houses will be made of either woven bamboo panels or cement blocks, with bamboo and wood used for windows and doors. Roofs will be made of galvanized iron zinc sheets. So... I need your help to go, to sweat and to change lives... are you with me? Lets be honest... if it was worth enough for Sir Ed, it’s worth enough for us!! Thank for taking the time to read this Alice
