Fundraising Event

Hi there, Thank you for visiting my fundraising page, which has been set up following my recent decision to embark on what I hope will be an amazing and rewarding adventure. Through looking at how I could volunteer my time with Habitat for Humanity (HfH) in Auckland, I stumbled across the charity’s appeal for Kiwis to join the Everest Build Nepal 2010 team - departing 30th September this year for Pokhara near Kathmandu - and have now signed up. Once there, we will join forces with other volunteers and attempt to build 50 bamboo houses within 1 week. Volunteers will be building alongside the families who will benefit from each house, helping them construct their own home. As the trip is self funding the confirmed cost to me so far is around $4,000 - $4,500, which I am required to provide to HfH by 30th July (about 1 month from now). This is a significant amount of money for me, so after being told about Habitat for Humanity’s fundraising facility I am now trying to raise as much as possible towards the trip. So of course, that is where YOU come in. Any and all donations, no matter how big or small, are welcomed with gratitude and a very big THANK YOU! Please remember that this is a safe site & donations over $5 are tax deductible. To give you some idea of what your donations would achieve in real terms, think of it like this: Nails $10, Bamboo $20, Cement $30, Window $50, Door $75, Toilet $100, Sink $150 Floor $200, Bathroom $250, Roof $500. I am apprehensive to say the least at seeing how my ‘construction skills’ will stand up to what is required, but I am sure that for all the hard work there will be many rewards, lessons, and no doubt entertainment along the way. I cannot wait to learn about a country and culture that until now I may never have visited!!
