Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with families in genuine housing and social need to eliminate substandard housing across Auckland. Working with a wide range of volunteers, trusts and corporate organisations, Habitat Auckland builds and renovates homes for families who are living in substandard housing or through hardship are struggling to maintain their homes.

Since our inception in 1994 we have been committed to an ongoing home building programme, building on average six homes a year in Auckland. In 2013 we will complete our100th home. Our home builds and renovation projects are predominantly focused in South and West Auckland, wherethe need for decent shelter is greatest and substandard housing most acute.

Habitat is not a give away programme. Families work inpartnership with Habitat by investing 500 hours of their own time to help build or renovate their own and other families homes. They are supported in each build by hundreds of volunteers from all over Auckland. Once the family move inthey repay their home on affordable terms.
