Cyclone Tomas hit Fiji in Early March 2010. There are some 150 additional houses that need building in Vanua Levu and there are a further 400 homes that need building in the outer islands of Fiji.
HABITAT’S RESPONSE
Habitat New Zealand is partnering with Habitat Fiji to build between 45 - 60 houses on the Island of Vanua Levu in northen Fiji. This area took the brunt of Cyclone Tomas when its destructive forces hit the Island March of this year, destroying over 500 homes and damaging many more ..
GROUND STORY
We are now calling for expressions of interest from builders, tradespersons and other willing volunteers to join our volunteer teams and restore hope to the lives of Fijians in urgent need of a decent place to live. The building period will commence from October 2010 onwards, and is expected to last at least four months.
