Volunteering in New Zealand

There are a number of opportunities to get involved with Habitat for Humanity in your local community.

Volunteer for a house build

Do you want to swing a hammer?  We rely heavily  on volunteers to help us build homes.  Wether you are a qualified tradesperson, a handy DIYer or an absolute beginner, we would love you to join us.

There are 12 Habitat for Humanity "affiliates" (branches) throughout New Zealand, from Northland to Invercargill. House builds take place throughout the year, dependent on land availability and building consent. If you would like to know more about the builds, check out our information sheet. If you would like to volunteer to help on a build, please contact your local affiliate or fill out the volunteer enquiry form.

Help us to raise funds

Are you a local leader who knows how to fundraise?  Habitat for Humanity encourages individuals and volunteers to come up with innovative and fun ways to work together with the community to raise further funds for our activities. If you would like to run an event or create personal challenges that will raise funds, please contact your local affiliate. Ideas range from running fashion parades to celebrity auctions, to bake days and sporting challengees - whatever rings your bell.

Lend a hand at the office

Are you good at administration and organising?  Volunteers can help in a range of different ways, not just on the building site! We need people that can assist with fundraising, catering for events, general administration, and all sorts of things. If you have a skill and some time that you think we may be able to make use of, come and join us – we'd love to see you.
